I am a stay at home mom, and I want to build my own content rich internet website. I am looking for profitable niche markets but I cant decide what topic I should choose for my website. Any ideas?

If people knew profitable niche websites they would not be openly telling everyone about it!
So instead, how about asking yourself what you are interested/knowledgable about and see if there are many websites on those topics.
That’s the best way to start, with areas you are familiar with. You need to have a niche topic but you need content that people actually want to read.

EmHas, do what you have been doing for most of your life. For example, if you are an accountant, it’s best for you to start your own consulting firm. If you are a mom that knows how to cook cookies well, start a cookie business. If you know how to do whatever, so that.
I’ve tried many times to start my own business using things that are hot on the web. I tried to become a video card seller, graphic designer, and a blogger, and every time I failed. Why, because these weren’t the things I really liked doing. I didn’t just like them, I knew nothing about them.

The trick with making your content valuable is producing lots of it and making it chock-full of detail. So, you need to focus on what you know very well. Most of the folks I know who do this work don’t do it part-time; you might need to work less if you stick to a unique niche and stay away from competitors. Do a twist on what’s already out there.
Also, if you plan on making any kind of money, focus on choosing topic of high quality, reputable affiliate programs that suit your chosen niche. Ideally, focus on a program where your consumers will buy high-ticket items, or make lots of repeat purchases over time.
Here’s a good example of someone who repaired treadmills, and turned his knowledge/expertise into web site ratings biz that makes him more $$ than his treadmill repair biz ever did.
